Activities

Kenan Connection brings together members from diverse backgrounds and we strive to offer something for everyone. We currently have eight different teams dedicated to putting together events for members to enjoy!

Social Involvement Team

The Kenan Connection Social Involvement Team aims to create social settings for all partners to have fun in a relaxed setting. We plan a wide variety of activities that allow partners to hang out, explore Chapel Hill, and get to know each other better. A few events to look forward to include pool parties, cookouts, and tailgates. In addition to planning activities, the Social Involvement Team acts as a liaison between the MBASA Social Committee and Kenan Connection to increase awareness of MBA-sponsored social events.

Sports and Entertainment

Kenan Connection Sports and Entertainment Team, where you can enjoy watching, cheering and playing your favorite sports games, getting lost in a good book or movie and sharing your thoughts while making new friends! We rotate between different partners homes, coffee shops, movie theaters, outdoor and indoor venues around Chapel Hill and plan activities like watching sports games on campus or at a bar, bowling, hiking nearby trails, CrossFit, jogging, book club meetings, visiting Southern Village outdoor movie theater, Varsity theater on Franklin St. and the AMC at Southpoint. We look forward to a year full of fun and new friends!

Craft Team

Join us as we get together to get a little crafty! Whether you’re a creative genius or just like to have fun chatting over glue sticks and scissors, all are welcome to come and create! We’ll help you decorate your new home, get creative for the holidays, learn some canvas painting, or just have a great time while we all get in touch with our inner Martha Stewart. We have lots of great ideas, but we’d love to hear what you’ve been wanting to make, too! No skill required, just a desire to be creative! We will provide the list of supplies so you can customize the craft, and, of course, some great drinks and snacks! Look for us on Pinterest.com!

Book Club
bookclub@kenanconnection.com

Join us once a month to discuss the preselected book over wine and snacks! Joining our book club is a great way to meet new people and to challenge yourself to read different books that you might not have selected on your own. We try to pick different genres from month to month and are always open to suggestions! If you’re not an avid reader, try listening to the book instead! Our club is a great excuse to get out of the house and have a fun evening out with friends!

Dinner Team

The Kenan Connection Dinner Team is all about good food, good conversation and most importantly, good friends! Moving to Chapel Hill is an adjustment and Dinner Team serves as a great way to meet new people and develop a support system. We gather for potlucks, cooking lessons and BBQs. Bring your favorite homemade dish or store-bought goodies– it is all about getting together and having a great time!

Families Team

Getting settled in a new town can be even trickier when you have little ones in tow! The Kenan Connection Families Team is here to provide information, resources and most importantly, support, as you and your family transition to life in Chapel Hill. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is a wonderful place to raise a family, and our goal is to provide you with the resources to take advantage of all that the area has to offer. We can assist in providing information about doctors, schools, day cares, baby sitters, mothers’ groups, playgrounds and a variety of other topics important to parents.

International Team

The Kenan Connection International Team is committed to helping international partners and families adapt to their new environment in Chapel Hill. We recognize the special challenges that international partners are faced with, but will help ease that transition by providing information about life and customs in Chapel Hill, visas, bank accounts, social security cards, housing, supermarkets, shopping, ESL classes, transportation, and any other general questions partners may have before arriving in Chapel Hill or during the first months of MBA school.

Networking Team
